Sunday, June 27th: La Paz to Sucre

Flying out of our room
Blandine wants to sleep late after the exhausting trek, but I´m awake early and want to write our blog a bit. The England - Germany game starts at 10:00AM, so I head down to Sol Y Luna again. I´m not going to comment on the game, mainly to protect my friendship with my English friends.

Blandine comes running in right after the game: she´s woken up at 11:00AM by a phone call from the hotel reception to be reminded it´s check-out time, so she´s just thrown all the stuff into our bags as fast as you could. Then she was called two more times within the next 5 minutes to hurry up. Needless to say she´s not in the best of moods. she hs breakfast, writes a few emails and we make our way to the airport. We´re catching the 2PM flight to Sucre, this will save us from a gruelling 12 hour bus ride.

Flying to Sucre
The wait to get on the plane is not too long, and is shortened by the world cup. Argentina is beating Mexico 2-0 when we need to get on the plane.
Bolivia looks even more impressive from the air, throughout the flight there are mountain peaks just everywhere. When we land, a hot breeze welcomes us. That´s the first real heat we encounter, and it´s quite welcome. We check in to Casa de Huéspedes Finita, a guesthouse in a quiet area, run by a doctor and his wife. Their kids have left the house and they host both students who take Spanish classes and the odd world travellers like ourselves. It´s got a real homely feel. Blandine´s not feeling very well, so we make it an early night. We have dinner at nearby Munay Pata, the only restaurant with local Bolivian specialities that´s open on Sunday night.

Pour un Sourire du Bolivie
While zapping around, Blandine spots familiar faces on TV! It´s a documentary about PSE, the organisation for which we are going to volunteer in Cambodia. The Spanish went a bit fast, but the images showed pretty much the whole center and its activities. And it reminded us we need to organise activities for these kids pretty fast. We´ll figure it out soon.
